Key Initiative
Mozambique Microgrid Programme
Mozambique has abundant energy resources vast hydroelectric capacity and the largest natural gas reserves in Southern Africa yet over 60% of its population lacks electricity access. EGE’s microgrid programme is addressing this gap directly, developing scalable off-grid solar and hybrid energy systems for rural communities. This model is directly replicable across Sub-Saharan Africa, where the World Bank estimates 160,000 microgrids need to be built to reach universal electricity access.
